Linking Combo Box elements to Frames

Post by miri » Tue Mar 21, 2006 6:43 pm

Hiya,

I'm creating a GUI prototype and I need to link comboBox elements (e.g. "foo1", "foo2") to a specified frame -- in other words, when an item is selected the frame changes and displays different content. I thought this would be done by setting the comboBox data value to the desired frame number (e.g. 5, 6) and then writing some actionscript to fetch the value and goto that frame number. Thing is, I'm getting nowhere fast. This is what I have thus far:

menuJump = new Object();
menuJump.change = function(){
gotoAndStop(goals_cb.getValue());
}
goals_cb.addEventListener("change", menuJump);

It sort of works in that I am able to use the comboBox to change the frame once, but after that it ceases to work. Also, the displayed item in the comboBox remains the default item rather than the item just selected (i.e. "foo1" not "foo2"). Help!!! Any and all assistance will be gratefully received

I'm using Macromedia Flash 8 Professional.
