I've used Photoshop for years, for so long it's very comfortable to use and I'm very productive with it. Unfortunately, it's been very slow to evolve.
I would love to see better support and integration with Flash and Director. Sadly, I see the end of Freehand and Fireworks, though they really don't fully "overlap" Adobe products.
This could also mean Flash will see a new and improved drawing toolset.
Overall, it's a sad time for the Internet and its developers in my opinion.

I like Macromedia. I like Adobe. I use products from both, and I use them properly and to their full, maximum power. Now that they have, he he -- 'combined forces', this means a sudden depression phase for me. There goes MM, and as the above 'translation' article said 'The MM brand is dead.' Personally, they should have stayed seperate (from my points of view, I see them as two different markets (Fireworks is partial exception)). What a nightmare. I'm not a personal fan of the 'PDF' thing either (if they shove, ummm -- 'combined', Flash and PDF together, Hell would be an understatement, and it [Hell] would be a vacation spot). But I shouldn't get too critical and little unhappy yet, we will see what happens (and if it means my favorite progs are fragged, this means -- ).

Yes, indeed. It could be like the Dark Ages all over again.
This is going to be interesting.

Now that this news has soaked in, I see a glimmer of hope for Flash. Specificially, I'd love to see Flash's drawing tools replaced with a hybrid of Photoshop and Illustrator drawing tools.
Also hopefully Adobe takes notice of the disparity between Director and Flash. That is, hopefully Flash will soon be able to write files as Director does. The security risk argument doesn't hold water.
Keep your fingers crossed.
